Cleaning latex clothing

After brief use, latex clothing usually does not require thorough washing, but rather the removal of any stains or a simple wipe with a damp cloth.

Over time, however, it is good to thoroughly wash the garments.

This is best done by filling a bathtub or sink with lukewarm water. Add detergent or a mild soap and gently scrub the garment with your hands (do not use brushes!) while it is submerged. Once done, rinse the garment well under running room temperature water and ensure that no soap residue remains.

Lighter "spots" may appear on the garment, but these will disappear once the garment is completely dried.

Air dry the garment by spreading it out well. Latex can stick together in the folds when wet. Before spreading out the wet latex for drying, you can dry it off a bit with a soft towel.

• dry latex in the air, but do not hang it on a radiator; absolutely do not dry it in a dryer
• do not iron latex

Storing latex clothing

Before putting a latex garment back in the closet, make sure it is completely dry, then sprinkle it with powder to prevent the latex from sticking.

You can also use ordinary talcum powder, which is also used for masturbator care, as it is the same substance. A natural option with the same effect is also cornstarch.

• If your piece of latex clothing also contains metal parts, make sure they do not touch the latex. Wrap chains in a towel or cloth, and cover rivets and other metal details that cannot be removed from the garment with protective tape.
• Store latex away from moisture, heat, and direct sunlight.
• It is advisable to store latex so that it does not touch other clothes, also do not hang it on metal hangers. Ideally, store it in a plastic bag, but not one with print.
• You can store latex garments of similar colors together in the same bag. However, if you store light and dark latex garments together, the colors will transfer from one piece of latex to another.

Shine of latex clothing

Latex garments that are not coated with silicone-based lubricant or treated with a latex shine spray are matte and of a paler color.

To make your latex gear shiny and as alluring as possible, apply a coat before each use.

Other important guidelines for garment care

• When dressing and undressing latex, take your time and do it patiently. Do not rush, as the garment can tear despite its elasticity, and in the worst case, it may also harm you.
• All oils are harmful to latex and will destroy the material! The exception is silicone lubricants. Therefore, do not apply lotions or self-tanning creams and sprays to your body before and during wearing latex. Also, do not use olive or baby oil to help put on the clothing, but rather a silicone-based lubricant.
• Do not use perfumes or antiperspirants while wearing latex, as they often contain a mix of chemicals that can react with the material and destroy the garment.
• For smokers: If latex absorbs the smell of cigarette smoke, washing will not help. The smell will eventually disappear on its own if the garments are no longer exposed to tobacco. This process can be accelerated by odor-absorbing sheets, which can be found in any well-stocked drugstore. When you store latex in the closet, include them in the bag with the clothes. However, it is still advisable not to smoke while wearing latex or avoid exposure to cigarette smoke, as nicotine can leave permanent yellow stains on the garment.
• When choosing your latex garment, make sure it is from a reliable manufacturer and is well-made. Wetlook products made of PVC and vinyl may look similar to latex but are entirely different materials, and are not cared for in the same way.
